One-on-One Meetings with Our Staff
Our staff are available year-round to meet one-on-one to discuss any issues or concerns you may have about your landlord, living on your own, finding a place to live, questions about moving off campus, or anything else related to off-campus housing! (If the matter is more serious, we will refer to you to a local legal clinic where you can speak to a lawyer free of charge).  Stop by or make an appointment. Our office is located on the Lower Level of the Student Centre, room B112. Give us a call at (905) 525-9140 ext. 24086, email us at macoffcampus@mcmaster.ca, or simply walk in Monday – Friday, 9:00 – 4:00 (closed for lunch 12:00 – 1:00).

Lease Reviews
We are not lawyers, but staff here have worked in this business for close to 10 years and have gained much experience and knowledge about renting.  Student tenants are welcome to bring in a lease before they sign it; we’ll read it over and offer some tips and advice before you sign.

Information Sessions for Students Moving Off-Campus
For those students who live in residence, the idea of moving off-campus can be quite daunting.  Fortunately, the OCRC offers information sessions in January to help answer many of the questions you’ll have about where to look, when to look and what to look for.  Watch for advertisements in your residence hall.

Off-Campus Housing Fair
The Off-Campus Housing Fair takes place during the second week of January each year.  At this event, landlords come onto campus, setting up displays to showcase the properties they have available for rent.  Students can stop by to meet landlords face-to-face and decide whether or not they want to go see any of the properties.  Appointments can be made, but no leases signed on this day.  The Off-Campus Housing Fair takes place in the Student Centre Atrium.

Housemate Connector
Each June, the OCRC sets up an on-line service for students who are looking for a housemate (or two or three or more) to live with for the coming school year.  This service is open to undergraduate as well as graduate students.  Watch the website for details.

Landlord Information Nights
We believe in supporting our landlord customers as well as our student customers.   Periodically throughout the year, we will host information nights for landlords with experts from various fields of interest to update and educate landlords.  Announcements are made on our website; as well, e-cards are sent out to all landlords who have an email address on file with our office.
